What is the difference between ‘sold’ and ‘selled’? Which one is correct?
Learn the answer here and how to say it correctly. Check it out!
“Sold for $1000!”
In today’s lesson, I want to talk about another common mistake that a lot of my English students make.
The mistake is saying, “selled” instead of “sold.”
The word “sell” is an irregular verb.
So the correct form in the past tense is, “sold.”
Never, never say, “selled” – never.
Okay, I want to give you some examples now.
“My dad sold his car last week.”
“They sold the company for $10,000,000.”
“I haven’t sold my iPhone yet.”
In those examples, we’re using “sold” as a verb.
Now, I want to show you how we can use it as an adjective to modify a noun.
For example:
“I’m sorry. That car is not for sale. It is already sold.”
So in this case, sold is describing the car. “The car is sold”.
I hope that this was helpful for you and that you will never make this mistake again.
Remember, always say “sold.”
Thanks for watching.
