I’m an English tutor, and in today’s lesson, we’re going to talk about the phrasal verb “empty out.”
You may be wondering, what exactly does that mean?
So, somebody might use the phrasal verb “empty out” when they are talking about removing everything out
of a specific space to find something.
For example, you might say, “I’m going to empty out my closet so I can find the suit that I want to wear for this weekend.”
A woman might say, “Oh my gosh, I have to empty out my purse. I can’t find my keys!”
So it’s to remove everything out of something. You can also say, “I need to empty out the refrigerator to clean it.”
So remember, the phrasal verb “empty out” has to do with completely removing the contents of something,
generally in order to find something else.
