Hi, my name is Jessica. I’m an English tutor and in today’s lesson we’re going to talk about
the phrasal verb “put past.”
Now when we use the phrasal verb, “put past” this is often used to express doubt or
mistrust of somebody’s character.
For example, a person passed an exam that they did not study for, someone might say,
“Wow! Mark passed that exam but he didn’t study at all.
I wouldn’t put it past him to have cheated on that exam.”
So to “put past” is to doubt that somebody actually did the right thing.
