Hi, I’m Joel, and in this short lesson, I’m going to help you pronounce the words “women” and “woman” correctly.
Many of my students have had problems pronouncing these words correctly.
The most common mistake is to pronounce the word “women” (which is the plural form), to pronounce it like “woman” (the singular form).
Just to clarify: Women is plural. So I can say, “Two women” “Three women” “Many women”
Or, speaking in general, I can say, “Women typically have long hair.”
And of course, “woman” is singular. It’s one.
“I saw a pretty woman today.”
“It’s the woman with the blue shirt.”
Okay, now let’s take a closer look at the pronunciation of these words.

This one is like a wiiii sound, kind of like an “i” like “with”
So it has this “iii” sound for both syllables – women
